The fight card for next month’s Rites of Passage 24: Ragin’ Rumble has a long list, as 16 bouts are scheduled in Trench Tech’s second offering for the season.
Trench Tech’s very own Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez, Vince “The Clinch” Masga, and Mark “The Dark Nuique” will be featured in the Saipan vs Guam triple-header. Alvarez will be pitted against Rob “The Real Deal” Wusstig in their 145-lb bout, while Masga will battle Vida BJJ Guam’s Zach Benavente, and Nuique will fight the latter’s teammate, Pete Benavente.
Before the Trench Tech trio sees action on the eight sides, two boxing matches will kick off ROP 24, which is set for Oct. 26 at the Marianas Business Plaza parking lot. Trench Tech’s Ton Borja will clash with Steel Athletics’ Steve Kassala in the 135-lb boxing bout, while the other fist fight will have Guam Muay Thai’s Jerreck Bagay challenging either Dion Reyes or Tatian Grajo of High Blood Pressure Guam in the 155-lb weight class.
Next up for the Ragin’ Rumble are four kickboxing bouts. Guam Muay Thai’s Kevin Ishmael will square off with Trench Tech’s Ko “PakPak” Palacios at 155 lbs, while the former’s teammate Eric “Young ASAP” Lacambra will duel another Trench Tech standout, Andres “The Tanapag Beach Bad Boy” Camacho in the 135-lb weight class. Chris “Doc Syndicate” Rendina will be the fourth Guam Muay Thai fighter that will debut in ROP 24, as he battles Zombie MMA’s Manny “The Kid” Camacho. Tonesha “Queen Tee’ Cruz will be featured in the first kickboxing match, but the Guam Muay Thai bet’s opponent in the 100-110 lbs class has yet to be announced.
For the MMA fight card, there will be nine bouts, including the Vince Torres versus Pejo Camacho duel.
Torres of Team Rage will have his first fight of the year against Camacho of Steel Athletics Guam. Camacho has been out of the octagon cage for nearly two years after losing his lone bout (to Frank Meno) at PXC 56 in November 2016, leaving Torres the slight favorite in the last MMA match in ROP 24 before the Saipan vs Guam feature. Torres holds a 2-1 record with his defeat coming from Guam’s Joey Crisostomo Jr. last year in ROP 21.
Other MMA pairings next month will have Austin Indalecio battling Team MeZZing’s Anua Kenty; Guam’s Austin Gaspay facing Team Zalaka’s Bradlee “Kaboom” Manalo; and Guam Muay Thai’s Austin “ Auzzy P” Petros meeting Down2Scrap’s Jonathan “No Love” Camacho. Down2Scrap’s Jadrien Camacho, ZomvieMMA’s Travis Camacho, Jessme “Don’t Test Me” Jones, Steel Athletics’ Jerome Fujihira, and Guam’s Cavin Castro will also fight on the the eight sides next month and their respective opponents will be announced later.
Meanwhile, Juan “Hot Pocket” Lizama of Rota, Patrick Ongcangco, Robby “The Rebel” Rabago of Talafofo Fight Club, Justin Cangco, Lucas “The Irish Zombie” and HBP’s Junar Jesus and Darren Taitano are the standby fighters for ROP 24. The fight card is tentative and subject to changes.
